About Me.
I’m Ruth, a passionate educator with over 17 years of teaching experience and more than a decade as Head of Biology. My journey began at the University of Nottingham, where I earned a degree in Neuroscience before completing my PGCE. Since then, I’ve taught in two of the UK’s most respected schools: Invicta Grammar, one of Kent’s top-performing selective schools, and Alleyn’s School, a leading co-educational independent school in London.
Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a simple but powerful goal: to help students thrive. As Head of Biology, I led my department to become one of the highest achieving departments in the school, with 52% of students securing an A* and 85% achieving A*/A grades two years running. Now, through Ruth Brett Education, I’m expanding that impact by offering expert Biology tutoring for GCSE and A Level students, mentoring to build effective revision habits, and consultancy support for schools looking to elevate their science provision.
I bring a wealth of experience as a qualified teacher, tutor, and examiner, and I’m committed to making learning clear, structured, and confidence-building. Whether I’m supporting individual students or working with departments to raise attainment, my approach is rooted in clarity, empathy, and high expectations.
Outside of work, I’m a mum to two young children and love spending time with my family. I also enjoy Tennis, Padel, Pilates, and catching up with friends.
